Readmio: Bedtime Stories Aloud

What Readmio does

Readmio: Bedtime Stories Aloud is a children’s story app designed for shared reading. An adult reads a selected fairy tale or bedtime story aloud, while the app recognises the spoken words and adds matching sounds or music at suitable moments. That makes it a fit for parents, carers and families who want a more interactive story routine without asking a child to watch the phone throughout the story.

Stories for reading together

The catalogue includes short children’s stories, folk tales, Aesop’s fables and seasonal tales. Stories are intended to support conversation as well as entertainment, with themes and situations that can give adults an opening to discuss feelings, choices or everyday problems with a child. The stories do not depend on a stream of on-screen illustrations, so the phone can be put aside while the reading continues.

Readmio is best suited to an adult-led bedtime routine or another quiet moment when someone is available to read aloud. It is less suitable if you are looking for an independently played video, audiobook or illustrated storybook experience.

Practical details

• Stories can be saved for reading, and new material is added regularly.
• An internet connection is needed to download stories.
• Once a story is available on the device, the reading experience and its speech recognition can work offline.
• The app is listed in Books & Reference.

Ratings and publisher

Readmio is published by Readmio and has been installed more than 1,000,000 times. Its current rating is 4.93 out of 5 from 20,238 ratings. Those figures suggest a well-established app with strong user feedback, but they do not indicate whether its story selection or reading style will suit every family.
